Multiple Oppositions
Implementation of Multiple Oppositions Approach:
The multiple oppositions approach targets a specific global phoneme collapse. A global phoneme collapse is when one sound is substituted for multiple target sounds. This approach is rooted in the belief that addressing multiple errors simultaneously may lead to more efficient and generalized improvements in a child's overall speech intelligibility. 2-4 sounds can be targeted at one time using this approach. The targets should be maximally different.

The ideal candidate for this approach would be:
-
a child 3-6 years old exhibiting global phoneme collapse
-
have a moderate-severe speech sound disorder
-
exhibit at least 6 sound errors.
