Phonological Approaches
This section of the Treatment Quick Guide offers SLPs information on multiple phonological approaches to use in therapy. It includes a "cheat sheet" for the implementation of each approach, links to a multitude of resources (both free and paid!), and research to back each intervention so clinicians are utilizing evidence-based practice!
When do you use a phonological approach?
There are certain criteria that help SLPs determine whether to use a phonological approach or an articulation approach. SLPs may opt to choose a phonological approach if:
-
An oral mechanism examination is within functional limits
-
The client is stimulable for the target sound
-
Errors are only in certain contexts
